Physical Therapy

Merriam-Webster defines physical therapy as “therapy for the preservation, enhancement, or restoration of movement and physical function impaired or threatened by disease, injury, or disability that utilizes therapeutic exercise, physical modalities, assistive devices, and patient education and training”. We add to that definition by taking those principals and personalize them to your specific needs and lifestyle by listening first, taking into account all the factors that one may be up against and designing a program that works for you.

Aquatic Therapy

For those who may not tolerate a traditional land-based PT, our heated inground pool is an excellent option with the following in mind. First, the buoyancy of the water allows a person to move more easily with lower stresses on muscles, joints and bones. Second, the warm water helps increase circulation and improves flexibility. Third, water provides resistance to movement helping to increase muscle strength. Finally, the hydrostatic pressure of the water on your body helps in reducing joint swelling and decompresses the spine when floating, leading to decreased pain.

Spine Care

The majority of us will experience an episode of neck or back pain at some point in our lives. For some, it can be a minor annoyance and for others, a frightening and debilitating experience. We approach all cases starting with a McKenzie-based approach to assess and treat these conditions using safe, patient generated forces and repetitive motions. Recognizing that everyone may not respond perfectly to a single approach, we also use manual therapy techniques, functional exercise and aquatic therapy to help you achieve your goals.

In addition, we will communicate our findings to the referring doctor. Please dress in a manner that is appropriate for exercising and allows the therapist to physically examine the affected body part/region. Those who have been recommended for Aquatic Therapy will receive an orientation to our pool facilities. Please note that patients will not go in the water on the day of their initial consultation.
